Community Board Now En Espanol

Though these times are uncertain, one thing's for sure: Councilman Daniel Dromm is one of the most proactive and responsive legislators in New York City.

Community Board 3 of Jackson Heights is changing for the better.

A new initiative sparked by City Council Member Daniel Dromm will begin translating community board proceedings into Spanish.

Jackson Heights is a bi-lingual neighborhood and Dromm, who speaks Spanish recognized the need to adapt the Community Board to welcome input from Spanish speaking community members.

This will be the first Community Board outside of Washington Heights in the Bronx that will begin translating its meetings through an onsite interpreter.

Headsets will also be provided.

The new initiative will be paid for by a $4,000 grant from the office of the Councilman.

Dromm hopes this will increase tolerance and diversity that Jackson Heights has long been noted for.

“When people can help in the decision making process, they take ownership of their communities and feel they can have an input,” said Dromm, according to a report in the Queens Gazette.
