Media and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
The press conference will be held as part of a day of advocacy and action organized by Reshma Saujani and We Care NYC in partnership with the Office of Congressman Gregory Meeks, Councilman Leroy Comrie, Councilman Ruben Wills, Councilman James Sanders, Jr., Google, New York Tech Meetup, I Love My LIFE, Flavorpill, Pencils of Promise, Russel Simmons and additional non-profit organizations, small businesses, and advocates in New York.
More than 300 people have signed up to attend the volunteer day. Together with John Legend and New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire, volunteers will help clean up Far Rockaway and distribute much-needed goods, food, and new clothing to those suffering in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Uber, an innovative on-demand car service company, is providing free transportation for volunteers and supplies as a sponsor of the event.
