Women’s Soccer Parade Includes Illegal Bus Operation

Canyon of Heroes to become Canyon of Violations.

Congratulations Team USA, you certainly deserve this honor but without the baggage.

As the parade is set for this Friday in the Canyon of Heroes, it is our understanding that Open Loop NYC, the scofflaw tour bus company, has been invited to participate in the parade, that is, not withstanding their open violations of the industry, a source has indicated.

Here they are, ready for the triumphant spotlight in a historic ticker tape parade, but here’s the inside scoop: Open Loop NYC does not have the legal authority to make all but one stop (see our FOILED documents from the DOT), however Open Loop makes over 40+ stops which are listed openly on their website; and now NYC is going to openly embrace them to participate in this operation?

See French Government to New York City: We do as we please!

Mr. Mayor, we love you. But today’s newspaper has you worried about hiring an individual to become a liaison to empower NYC on a national level, in the meantime you sit by and watch how a foreign government doesn’t comply with NYC laws and is putting small business out of work and now you honor Open Loop by allowing them to participate in the parade? Shame!

Mr. Mayor, there’s a lot of your initiatives we approve of, whether it’s universal pre-k or standing up for the poor and downtrodden, but how for the life of you can you allow someone to abuse the system in such a blatant manner, and yet your commissioners – who have all been notified – do nothing about it?

What’s up with that?

Katz Roasts Library Fat Cat At Budget Hearing

The nerve of this guy.

He runs Queens Library and he makes $391,594 a year.

As if Thomas Galante’s bloated salary isn’t enough to make your head spin, Galante displayed his royal arrogance Thursday at  a budget hearing inside Borough Hall where he repeatedly requesting more funds for Queens library while defending his outrageous $2 million dollar severance package and other perks.

A sense of outrage struck the room and Borough President Melinda Katz wasn’t having any of it on her watch. Read the story for her response.

From The NYDNGalante usually outlines the library’s budget needs during the annual hearing. But he started his presentation addressing the firestorm over his $392,000 salary and compensation.

The News reported that the head of the taxpayer-funded system earns $392,000 plus lavish perks including a sports car and a secret $2 million golden parachute in his contract. Galante also spent nearly $140,000 on renovations to his executive office — including a private smoking deck.

“We’ve been working very hard to address these issues and I do expect that a series of measures will be taken,” Galante told Katz and local lawmakers at the hearing.

“This is a budget hearing,” snapped Deputy Borough President Leroy Comrie.

When Galante started talking about possible looming budget cuts, Comrie cut him off asking “Do you have a budget request?”

Katz, who demanded the library’s Board of Trustees snip the lines of the secret golden parachute in Galante’s contract, also told him she did not want to engage in a “back and forth” about the issue at the hearing.

Instead, she grilled him about how the library handles capital budget issues and branch renovations.

In his testimony, Galante said the library system wants a “sufficient increase in operating funding” to hire staff and expand service hours.

Steve Israel’s Challenger Has a Lot of Baggage

Grant Lally is not an angel of good government.

Earlier this afternoon we posted a link regarding Congressman Steve Israel’s opponent, Republican Grant Lally, announcing his third bid for Congress. Shortly afterwards, a reader sent us a link to cases of political corruption involving Lally, his questionable campaign disclosures, even a book casting him into history as the recipient of one of the largest penalties ever handed down from the Federal Elections Commission in 1998:

” –$280,000– for receiving more than $300,000 in illegal campaign contributions from his parents for his 1994 primary and general election campaigns, and then lying about it.”

Grant Lally

“The FEC has imposed only two penalties larger than Lally’s civil penalty, to be paid by him and his parents.

“Knowing and willful is the most egregious sin we have, and he admitted to that,” said FEC spokesman Ron Harris.

An aggressive campaigner, Lally challenged Ackerman in 1994 and again in 1996. He accused the incumbent of a number of sins, among them accepting campaign money from organized crime. – AP May, 1998

There was also a mysterious break in to Gary Ackermans Queens campaign office in 1996.

Perhaps most interesting, Lally had a role in the infamous “hanging chad” incident as an election observer in Florida while on George W. Bush’s campaign team.

Fast forward to 2011, Susan Persaud, a New York attorney and an associate at Lally’s law firm, Lally & Misir was arrested and indicted in what the Queens DA called, ‘A massive international ID theft ring’ as a ‘collusive attorney’ in a case that is still pending. Persaud was accused of providing her clients with information about how to conduct their crimes and evade authorities, according to Wired. Persaud, 34, at the time, allegedly received payment for her services in the form of expensive designer shoes.

Were resources from the law firm used? We don’t know for sure. Does it hurt to have a mother who is a NYS judge when there is an investigation? Probably not.

Currently, Grant Lally has been retained in a defense capacity by Vince Tabone who is facing Federal Corruption charges for trying to fix the NYC mayoral nomination

Lastly, to top it all off, Grant Lally is one of these anti-Obama non-pragmatic imbicils that want to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which he claims has been a “drag on the economy” and caused premiums to increase, according to an article in Newsday.

“I want to stand up for the people in this area,” Lally said.

There you have it folks, many other news outlets reporting on Lally’s candidacy tend to forget and let facts just slip right by the voters, the truth, however, cannot be swept under the rug for long.

Stay out of Queens Lally.

Senator believes his colleagues have low IQs

latimer_0A veteran Albany lawmaker believes his fellow legislators wouldn’t pass the Common Core curriculum.

From Capital NY:  ALBANY—Could New York lawmakers pass a high school exam in language arts or mathematics?

One state senator wants to know.

Sen. George Latimer, a Westchester Democrat, told City & State he’s not sure if he would pass a high-school level state exam based on the new, more difficult Common Core curriculum standards, and he bets not all of his colleagues would pass it, either.

“Does that mean we are deficient as adults?” Latimer said in a video posted Thursday by the newspaper.

Supporters tout that if students can master the rigorous Common Core learning standards, they’ll be ready to successfully complete college coursework or thrive in the modern workforce. Latimer’s not sure if the state Legislature would show proficiency in the skills that, according to the standards, are necessary for success.
