4th Annual Halloween Festival …….. for the kids

Politics begins with community service and that’s why we are proud to announce a free Halloween Festival for children of the community sponsored by Garden Works and the Knights of Columbus. Everyone is welcome to attend and the event will benefit St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children.  Details included below.

On Sunday October 28th 2012 Garden Works and the Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring and hosting the 4th annual Halloween Festival … for the kids at Bowne Park in Flushing  from 11am to 4pm at 157th street and 32nd ave.

This event is not to be missed. I encourage all of our friends and neighbors to join us in making this year’s event a great success.

St. Mary’s is an invaluable resource within the community and throughout the area for children and families with special needs. The entire event is free; please thank our sponsors by helping them reach their donation goal of ($10,000) ten thousand dollars for the kids and families at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is a national leader in post-acute care for children with special needs and life limiting conditions. In 2012, one in five children has a special healthcare need. St Mary’s provides intensive rehabilitation, specialized healthcare, and education to 4,000 children each day in the New York Metropolitan region and beyond through family- centered inpatient, home, and community programs. A pediatric healthcare innovator, St. Mary’s created the nation’s first pediatric palliative care program, NY states first long-term home healthcare program, NYC’s first certified traumatic brain injury program, and offers one of only nine interdisciplinary pediatric feeding disorder programs in the U.S. Celebrating their 140th anniversary and the grand opening of the new Patient Pavilion this year, 97-bed state-of-the-art pavilion dedicated to patient care, with expanded rehabilitation space, and community areas to foster healing and growth in a child- and family-friendly environment.

Activities will include; pony rides, pumpkin picking and face painting, a live Zumba instructional demonstration by re-mix of Whitestone, a must see performance by our very own landrum Dance School, a dance competition for kids of all ages, costume prizes for adults, kids, and pets, bouncy houses, and a celebrity guest appearance…..

Remember to wear your costume and get ready for the neighborhood’s most exciting and benefitting event. I hope to see you all there on October 28th at Bowne Park.

Happy Trick or Treating everyone!!!!
