In the halls of justice, the only justice is in the halls. Richard Lipsky pled guilt to bribing convicted felon Carl Kruger to the tune of $200,000, but today his sentence was finally handed down – and as predicted – it’s going to be a brief cake walk.
Manhattan federal district court Judge Jed Rakoff significantly reduced Mr. Lipsky’s sentence today in light of the lobbyist’s cooperation with authorities.
Many questions remain. Who did he rat on? Who will be indicted next? Will Stavisky’s Parkside Firm finally be brought to justice? Rumor has it Evan Stavisky was present at a public hearing yesterday, perhaps keeping his ear to the ground for things to come?
It is widely rumored in political circles that other lobbyists and unions have already been mentioned.
People everywhere are already saying this could be the Parkside’s Achilles’ heel.
